Un poco de historia:

Con 2500 años de Historia, tiene el privilegio de poseer dos monumentos inscritos en la lista del Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO : el Canal du Midi en 1996 y la Ciudad Medieval en 1997.

CIUDAD MEDIEVAL: Situada en la ribera derecha del Aude, la Ciudad Medieval es una ciudad fortificada única en
Europa por su tamaño y su estado de conservación.

CANAL DU MIDI: fue obra de Pierre-Paul Riquet realizada en el siglo XVII para unir el Atlántico con el Mediterráneo. El Canal du Midi se utilizaba por el transporte de mercancías y personas, hoy es en día está frecuentado por turistas y aficionados de la navegación.

A little bit of history:
With 2500 years of history, it has the privilege of having two monuments World Heritage in the  List of UNESCO: the Canal du Midi in 1996 and the Medieval City in 1997. 


MEDIEVAL CITY: Located on the right bank of the Aude, Medieval City is the only fortified city in
Europe for its size and condition. 


CANAL DU MIDI: was the work of Pierre-Paul Riquet made ​​in the seventeenth century to link the Atlantic with the Mediterranean.
